What to Wear in Paris | Spring 2013

The weather is finally starting to cooperate and feel more like spring! As you shed your winter coat in favor of spring clothes, here are some trends to keep in mind to feel ever fashionable walking around Paris.

Colors and Patterns

When you think of spring, normally you think of soothing pastels. Once again these are definitely in style, with mints and pinks being the colors to go for.

But this season we also need to add black and white to this list. This crisp color combination is showing up everywhere, especially in stripes and geometric patterns. Try it out in a fun striped or, if you are feeling adventurous, some black and white skinny pants. White by itself is also hot for spring.

Bold, colorful patterns are also in. Try anything big and graphic to get the look. And if you are going for an intricate print, don’t be afraid of color!

Leather is a good transition fabric between winter and summer. A chic leather jacket is the perfect way to stay warm on a chilly spring day. Or try the trend in something more unexpected, like a t-shirt.

As it gets warmer, longer pants are shed in favor of shorts. This year, bermuda shorts are back. Think loose and baggy silhouettes in fun prints. Or, for a more business-casual look, try a short suit! This quirky look combines the traditional structure of a suit with the casual short trend. Try changing it up and wearing the shorts on their own.

Fun, flirty cutouts add interest to a dress or shirt. Pick something solid-colored with a small to medium-sized cut out for a classy look with a twist.

This spring, big statement sunglasses are in. Look for something in a vibrant color or with a bold shape.

Ditch those sky-high heels in favor of a simpler kitten heel or a flat. No need to wear killer shoes this season to feel fashionable. We especially like the casual loafers that have popped up all over.

Add some glamour to your outfit with a statement cuff. For a simpler outfit, choose something with a lot of personality and glitz.

With all the prints going on in many outfits this spring, keep your purse simple. Pastel colors with a little bit of embellishment are popular this season, but keep the overall silhouette of bag simple and structure.
