Peonies, Flower Shopping, and Healthy Eating

Allow us to introduce you to Lucia Chauvet, a Parisian born, multilingual foodie, photographer, and adventure-lover. Lucia started her blog, Lucia Talks Pictures, in 2016 with the idea to share her knowledge of food and photography in Paris, from the perspective of a multicultural life. If we could all share one common interest, food is probably the first thing that springs to mind! We are very excited to feature Lucia this week as a guest post on SFP, to have an insight into a couple of her MANY food experiences in Paris.

Peonies is not only a little flower shop but also a cute cafe serving healthy food. Located on Faubourg Saint Denis in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, its lovely pink tables and green tiles create a vegetal surrounding and give a fresh touch to the place.

In addition to this, you can be sure to find adorable and flowery spots where you can take nice pictures.

Their lunch set includes two rolls and a small salad. I found their rolls creative. I would have never thought of putting avocado, rice noodles, chioggia beetroot, spinach, and sweet potatoes all together, and on top of that, serving with a peanut sauce.

At first, I was a little skeptical and was greatly surprised. It tasted amazing! Their carrot, celery, grilled almond, apple, and chive salad was also delicious. Thinking out of the box is always worth it, whether it’s a good or bad experience, there is always something new we can learn from.

Never say never

Although I don’t fancy being surrounded by flowers, here I am, writing about a cafe… inside of a flower shop! (Whaaatt?)

Those who are familiar with my blog would know that I am more a coffeeshop person, where you can sometimes hear more English than French. But I felt like stepping out of my comfort zone and trying something new this time. So, Peonies it is!

Flowers aren’t usually my cup of tea. Seeing them is fine but they should neither come too close nor be on my desk. I would feel uneasy. Therefore, I am so glad I discovered this marvelous place and was able to enjoy the atmosphere, the food, and their lovely matcha latte, which is a small victory for me.

There are so many things that we limit ourselves from exploring because we feel uncomfortable, scared or not good enough. The walls that we build and fears that we generate, everything comes from us. If we have the power to create, we also have the power to destroy; it is all up to us.

Let’s continue our healthy-eat tour in the area. Only three streets parallel to Faubourg Saint-Denis, there is Café Pinson. Similarly, with a cosy greenish interior, the cafe offers organic food with an artistic touch.

I have only tried their breakfast and have been highly satisfied. We got (once again) their set, which came with a fresh juice, a hot drink, a delicious granola and three chocolate gluten-free madeleines. This is definitely my go-to breaky place in Paris!

I think it’s a great place for people who want to motivate themselves and get some work done in the morning.

As a freelance, sometimes I find it difficult to be disciplined and wake up early, especially when I have full control of how I manage my time. However, knowing that I’ll be having a great breakfast helps me tons! Or is it because I love food too much?
