New for Coffee and Cakes: Boot Café and Marlette
by Tess
Nothing brings the city back to life like a little springtime sunshine. A collective sigh of relief is palpable as winter layers are shed and flowers begin to bloom. Doors open to let in fresh air, and in some cases to welcome you to a new favorite space. Here are few of Paris’ latest additions for coffee, brunch and beyond.
Marlette
You may recognize Marlette for their gourmet organic bread and cake mixes carried in select markets. The duo from Île de Ré, Margot and Scarlette (hence Marlette), have recently expanded their concept into a Parisian restaurant in the 9th arrondissement. The atmosphere is a reflexion of their food: wholesome and down to hearth. There is breakfast, lunch, snacks and a sweet brunch menu which gives you a bit of everything à prix fixe. If you’re still hungry or curious pick up some of their bread and pastry mixes to try at home.
Boot Café is as cute as a bug’s ear: itty bitty and full of charm. The space is set up in an one time shoe repair shop and the original exterior has been preserved in all of its glory. The Marzocco is installed behind the counter and the coffee’s great – a product of the Belleville Brulerie. You can cozy in at one of the three tables, or as the the Nancy Sinatra inspired writing on the wall hints – “This coffee’s made for walkn'”- you may want to get it to go.
